Green Energy Ohio (GEO) welcomes the new Green Energy Ohio Tour for 2011! So Far Two Mahoning Valley Sites are featured.

Green Energy OhioEach October Ohiocelebrates the green energy industry in a statewide event that enlightens consumers about the developing marketplace. For the last 11 years, Green Energy Ohio (GEO) provides market information to the public on the first weekend in October to exhibit the industry across the state.

This year the “Ohio Solar Tour” name has been changed to the “Green Energy Ohio Tour” to more accurately describe the tour that features not only solar, but tour sites with wind, energy efficiency, biomass and other green energy technologies. This FREE statewide event on October 1 & 2 provides the unique opportunity for people to visit hundreds of Open House Sites and talk with owners living and working with clean energy technologies.

2011 – Lordstown Apple Cider Festival and 5K Run

Apple lovers will have a great weekend Sept. 16,17, and 18 as three local communities will be holding their annual apple festivals.

In northeastern Trumbull County you’ll enjoy the Hartford Apple Festival; while in southwestern Trumbull County you can visit the Lordstown Apple Cider Festival. The Columbiana County Fairgrounds hosts the Johnny Appleseed Festival, down in  Lisbon, Ohio.

Here at the Lordstown Apple Cider Festival, September 16,17 and 18, you can watch as experts turn apples into fresh, sweet apple cider. This annual fall event also features a craft and flower show; musical entertainment; mechanical rides and carnival games; and a variety of food available. Also don’t miss the 5K run on Sunday. Admission and parking are free.

Valley Median Home Price Up 2nd Straight Month;Sales Finally Show Some Life, Up 1.8 Percent

According to RE/MAX Valley Real Estate’s Mahoning Valley Housing Report (MVHR) for August, 2011, single family residential sales (not seasonally adjusted) soared 26.1 percent from 272 units in July to 343 in August. Although the month over month increase was dramatic it was not enough to avoid yet another decrease of 0.7 percent annually. The seasonally adjusted, year over year comparison of closed transactions dropped again for the 42nd consecutive month.

MVHR: July Valley Home Prices Rise

Home prices in the Valley Gain a little ground in July; sales also seem to pick up a little steam according to the Mahoning Valley Housing Report (MVHR).

According to RE/MAX Valley Real Estate’s Mahoning Valley Housing Report (MVHR) for July, single family residential sales (not seasonally adjusted) remain in the doldrums, falling 11.7 percent from 308 units in June to just 272 in July. However, sales this month did mark nearly a ten percent rise over July of 2010. The seasonally adjusted, month over month comparison of closed transactions dropped again for the 41st consecutive month.

According to RE/MAX Valley Real Estate’s Mahoning Valley Housing Report (MVHR) for April, single family residential closed transactions unexpectedly fell, month over month, a seasonally adjusted 1.5 percent; while the yearly, month over month comparison of closed transactions continues to erode for the 38th straight month. The seasonally adjusted median home price in the Valley, however, rose modestly 0.9 percent, ending a two-month skid. Our measure of the annual absorption rate rose a seasonally adjusted 0.5 percent from 14.8 months to 14.9 months as the Bull Housing Market for Buyers roars on.  Continue reading

Single Family Residential Existing-Home Sales Increase for Second Consecutive Month; Median Home Price Falls

MVHRAccording to RE/MAX Valley Real Estate’s Mahoning Valley Housing Report (MVHR) for March, single family residential closed transactions were up (0.5 percent) for the second consecutive month, but year over year comparison of closed transactions continues it’s steady, 37 month long decline. Home prices also fell rather sharply for the second straight month, as the median price of a home in the Valley fell 1.3 percent. On a second positive note, our measure of the annual absorption rate remained unchanged in March after edging up only slightly in February.

MVHR: Prices End Where They Started and That Ain’t Bad

December’s residential closings rose 19.5 percent over closings in November; and rose a striking 8.2 percent over December 2009.

Mahoning Valley Housing ReportAccording to RE/MAX Valley Real Estate’s Mahoning Valley Housing Report (MVHR) single family residential monthly home sales were substantially higher both month over month and year over year, a display not seen since the end of the tax credit in June.  Other data shows that although the real estate market is still struggling to find secure footing our three county area, the trend is decidedly toward stabilization.  The supply of active inventory and absorption rate data took baby steps in a positive direction, while the medium home price index remained constant despite dire predictions of falling home prices elsewhere.
