November Online Labor Demand Expands

The Conference Board reported Online Labor Demand Rose 47,400 in November. Ohio saw help wanted ads online decrease by 1,400.

Help Wanted OnlineOnline advertised vacancies rose a modest 47,400 in November to 4,457,200 following an increase of 113,700 in October, according to The Conference Board Help Wanted OnLine™ (HWOL) Data Series. The nation’s Supply/Demand rate stood at 3.37 unemployed for every advertised vacancy in October (down from a peak of 4.73 in October 2009. The Conference Board Reports that there are now 10.4 million more unemployed U.S. workers than advertised vacancies.

Online advertised vacancies rose 113,700 in October according to The Conference Board Help Wanted OnLine™ (HWOL)

Advertised Help Wanted Online vacancies rose 113,700 in October to 4,409,800, following an increase of 59,900 in September, according to The Conference Board Help Wanted OnLine™ (HWOL) Data Series released today.  The nation’s Supply/Demand rate stood at 3.44 unemployed for every advertised vacancy in September (the last available unemployment data), a figure that is down from a peak of 4.73 in October 2009.  Nationally, there are 10.5 million more unemployed than advertised vacancies.

Help Wanted OnlineOnline advertised vacancies rose 59,900 in September to 4,296,100 following a decrease of 57,100 in August, according to The Conference Board Help Wanted OnLine™ (HWOL) Data Series released today.  The gap between the number of unemployed and advertised vacancies (supply/demand rate) stood at 3.51 unemployed for every advertised vacancy in August (the last available unemployment data) but is down from its peak of 4.73 in October 2009.

ADP: Construction Job Loss Surges In August

Private-sector employment decreased by 10,000 from July to August on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the August 2010 ADP National Employment Report®.

No Help Wanted

Construction Sector loses another 33,000 jobs in July.

The estimated change of employment from June to July was revised down slightly, from the previously reported increase of 42,000 to an increase of 37,000.

The decline in private employment in August confirms a pause in the recovery, already evident in other economic data. The deceleration in employment was evident in the major sectors and by size of business. This month’s decline in employment followed six monthly increases from February through July. Over those six months, the average monthly gain in employment was 37,000 with no evidence of acceleration.
